The Maasai Mara is located in southwestern Kenya, bordering Tanzania’s Serengeti, and is one of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations. It’s easily accessible from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, with scheduled charter flights from Wilson Airport taking just 45–60 minutes to reach various airstrips inside the reserve. Road transfers are also an option, taking around 5.5 to 6.5 hours depending on road conditions and lodge location.
Visitors come to the Mara for its extraordinary wildlife, particularly the Big Five and the annual Great Migration from July to October, one of the world’s most dramatic natural spectacles. Popular activities include twice-daily game drives, hot air balloon safaris with champagne breakfasts, and cultural visits to local Maasai villages. The Mara’s private conservancies also offer walking safaris and photographic tours for a more intimate experience.
While there’s no golf within the reserve itself, clients can easily play before or after their safari. Nairobi offers top courses like Karen Country Club and Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club, both within an hour from the airports. For longer itineraries, Vipingo Ridge near Mombasa offers coastal golf luxury. Combining a Maasai Mara safari with select Kenyan golf courses creates a unique, high-end travel experience.
